Using DTF Transfers

  1. Order your DTF Transfers from dtfpro.co.uk
  2. Prepare the Fabric:

    • Pre-press the fabric to remove wrinkles and moisture. Use the heat press at 140°C (284°F) for 7-10 seconds.
    • Position the fabric on the heat press base, ensuring it is smooth and flat.
  3. Transfer the Design:

    • Place the DTF transfer with the design facing down onto the fabric.
    • Optional: Secure the film with heat-resistant tape to prevent shifting.
    • Cover the film with a Teflon sheet or parchment paper to protect the transfer.
  4. Heat Press the Design:

    • Close the heat press and apply firm pressure.
    • Cotton Garments: 140°C for 7-10 seconds.
    • Polyester Garments: 135°C for 7-10 seconds.
    • Open the heat press, and peel the film instantly.
  5. Peel Off the Film:

    • Peel off the DTF film, the design will now be transferred to the garment/fabric.
    • If the design does not transfer completely, repeat the pressing process for a few more seconds.
  6. Final Touch:

    • For added durability, you can re-press the transferred design with a Teflon sheet or parchment paper for an additional 5-10 seconds.
    • Allow the fabric to cool.

Tips for Best Results:

  • Ensure the heat press maintains consistent temperature and pressure.
  • Test the transfer on a sample fabric to perfect your technique.
  • Store DTF transfers in a cool, dry place to maintain their quality.

Direct-to-Film (DTF) transfers offer several advantages, making them an increasingly popular choice for customizing garments and other fabric items. Here are the key benefits:

1. Versatility

  • Wide Range of Fabrics: DTF transfers work well on various fabrics, including cotton, polyester, blends, nylon, and more. This flexibility allows you to customise a broad range of items such as t-shirts, hoodies, bags, and hats.
  • Color and Design Freedom: You can print any color, gradient, or intricate design, including photorealistic images, without losing detail or quality.

2. Durability

  • Long-Lasting Prints: DTF transfers produce durable prints that can withstand multiple washes without significant fading, cracking, or peeling. The hot melt adhesive used in DTF transfers ensures strong bonding to the fabric.

3. Cost-Effective

  • Low Production Costs: Compared to other methods like screen printing, DTF transfers have lower setup costs, making them ideal for small to medium production runs.
  • Minimal Waste: With DTF, you print only what you need, reducing waste of materials and ink.

4. Ease of Use

  • Simplified Process: The DTF transfer process is straightforward and can be performed without extensive training or expertise. This makes it accessible to both beginners and professionals.
  • No Pre-Treatment Required: Unlike some other printing methods (e.g., Direct-to-Garment), DTF transfers do not require pre-treating the fabric, saving time and effort.

5. Fast Turnaround

  • Quick Production Time: The DTF process allows for quick production, making it possible to fulfill orders rapidly. This is particularly beneficial for businesses that need to meet tight deadlines.
  • On-Demand Printing: DTF transfers enable on-demand printing, allowing for customization and quick changes to designs without significant downtime.

6. High Quality

  • Vibrant Colors and Detail: DTF transfers produce high-resolution prints with vibrant colors and fine details, ensuring that the final product looks professional and attractive.
  • Soft Hand Feel: The resulting prints are soft to the touch, enhancing the overall feel and comfort of the garment.

7. Environmentally Friendly

  • Reduced Chemical Use: DTF transfers require fewer chemicals compared to traditional screen printing, making the process more environmentally friendly.
  • Less Water Usage: The DTF process uses minimal water, contributing to water conservation efforts.

8. Customisation

  • Personalisation: DTF transfers are perfect for creating customized items, allowing for personalization of single pieces or small batches, which is ideal for gifts, promotions, and small businesses.

By leveraging these benefits, businesses and individuals can create high-quality, durable, and visually appealing custom prints efficiently and cost-effectively.

DTF (Direct to Film) transfers are specialised films used in the printing process to transfer vibrant and detailed designs onto various fabrics. They are ideal for creating custom garments, accessories, and more.

DTF transfer sheets work well with a variety of fabrics, including cotton, polyester, blends, nylon, and more.

To ensure longevity, wash garments inside out on a cold setting and do not tumble dry. Avoid using bleach and do not iron the transfer directly. The transfers will last for up to 50-60 washes.
